Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav: A much-needed partnership for Team India

Both the stars representing India have been involved in successful partnerships in the T20 format. It is a really good sign for India with T20 World Cup being a few weeks away. And guess what, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have now the most partnership run among non-opening pairs this year in T20Is smashing 352 runs including two 100 and one 50+ partnership.

Here is how they have evolved-

The rising partnership between Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav could be initially seen in T20 Asia Cup. The duo added an unbroken 98 for the third wicket in the Asia Cup clash against Afghanistan. Even in the match against Hong Kong, Surya smashed an unbeaten 68 off 26 balls while Kohli contributed 59 not out in 44 balls.

After Asia Cup, it was followed up with 104 against Australia in Hyderabad in the deciding T20I of the three-match home series. SKY clobbered 69 in 36 balls and Kohli contributed 63 in 48 balls.

It is pertinent to mention that they have complemented each other because in all these partnerships Suryakumar Yadav has been at his best while Kohli supports him from the other end. This is an great example of how a partnership can prove beneficial for the team in a long run.

Though Kohli is a bigger star among the two, he has been not greedy. He has been donned the supporting role while SKY hits those huge sixes and fours. This also shows how important is for him to get runs for the teams rather than himself. He even bows to Suryakumar Yadav after his innings.

For a player like Kohli who is more comfortable hitting fours and running a lot between wickets, SKY is the perfect partner. This is because he is more fit to do that. As for Suryakumar, he goes for sixes and fours and Kohli is ready to retain his position at the non-striker's end. Kohli also becomes more confident seeing him playing those shots. This gives a certain kind of stability to the team. So, both of them playing at No. 3 and No. 4 can be termed as "perfect".
