English players steal the show: Sam Curran becomes most expensive buy in history of IPL Auction, gets 18.50 cr from Punjab Kings

Three players including two English players break the all time IPL bidding record with Sam Curran becoming highest ever buy in history.

Kochi, Dec 24: The IPL mini-auction in Kochi broke all records with three overseas players breaking the IPL all-time bidding record. England all-rounder Sam Curran became the highest-ever IPL buy when Punjab Kings broke the bank and brought him for Rs 18.50 crore.

Australian Cameron Green went to Mumbai Indians after he was sold for Rs 17.5 crore and Chennai Super Kings pulled off the Ben Stokes deal for Rs 16.25 crore. Nicholas Pooran also commanded big bucks as Lucknow bought him for Rs 16 crore after a bidding war with Delhi Capitals.
 
Speaking of Indian players, Mayank Agarwal was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 8.25 crore at the IPL 2023 auction in Kochi on Friday. Earlier, former Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson was sold to champions Gujarat Titans while Sunrisers Hyderabad, who started the day with the largest purse among the franchises, snapped up Harry Brook for a whopping 13.25 crore.
 
Out-of-favour India batter Ajinkya Rahane was sold at his base price of Rs 50 lakh to Chennai Supper Kings, the only bidder for the player. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan went to KKR. West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 5.75 crore.
