India registered their 9th straight win in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they enter the semi-final of the tournament as the top team at the end of the preliminary stage. The match provided several memorable moments for the Men in Blue that scripted history in the World Cup.
After KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer slammed centuries, the country saw the rare sight when four part-time bowlers rolled their arms over namely Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma. In fact, Virat and Rohit even took wickets. The Indian captain finally revealed why they decided to bowl four part timers against Netherlands.

1. India became the first team to have five of its batters score fifty runs or more in an innings in a World Cup match. Rohit Sharma (61), Shubman Gill (51), Virat Kohli (51), Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul notched centuries.
2. With his two sixes, Rohit Sharma now has the record of smashing the most number of sixes in ODI in a calendar year (59), surpassing AB de Villiers’ feat.
3. Rohit Sharma became the first player in the history of the game to smash 500+ runs in consecutive editions of the ODI World Cup.
4. Rohit has also surpassed Sourav Ganguly’s 2003 World Cup tally of 465 runs to record the most runs by an Indian captain in a single World Cup edition.
5. Virat Kohli became only the third player to score seven 50+ knocks in a single World Cup edition, joining Shakib Al Hasan and Sachin Tendulkar on the list.
6. With 594 runs in this World Cup, Kohli is now leading the run-scorers’ chart of the competition.
7. KL Rahul recorded the fastest-ever ODI World Cup hundred for India in just 62 balls.
8. This is the first time India used nine different bowlers in ODI innings
9. Ravindra Jadeja broke Anil Kumble and Yuvraj Singh's recor for most wickets in ODI World Cup edition - 16 wickets.
10. 660 runs - Highest ODI match aggregate between two nations
11. With 215 sixes in 2023, India set a new world record for most sixes in ODIs by a team in the calendar year.
12. With 24 wins in 2023, most ODI wins in a calendar year for India.
Netherlands were bundled out for 250 runs, as India won the game by 160 runs, a Jasprit Bumrah, kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj picked up two wickets each.
