Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria faced massive backlash from Pakistani netizens for praising the Board of Control for Cricket in India and tweeting "Jai Shree Ram".
Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced a huge increase in the prize money of all domestic competitions ahead of the upcoming domestic season. Responding to this announcement, Kaneria, in his tweet, congratulated the Indian Cricket Board for increasing the prize money for all domestic tournaments.
The former Pakistani spinner, who is a Hindu, also took a swipe at the Pakistani cricket board. Kaneria urged 'other boards' to learn from the Indian cricket body.
In the tweet, he said, "Jai Shree Ram 🙏Want to congratulate BCCI in increasing the prize money of all @BCCI Domestic Tournaments that shows the Board knows the important of Domestic cricket and owns their male & female cricketers and make all efforts to protect them.Other Boards need to learn."
Kaneria's tweet, however, did not go well with many Pakistani Twitter users and started to troll the former Pakistani cricketer.
Earlier, Kaneria had also said that Pakistan should bow a little down in front of India amid the controversy over hosting Asia Cup in Pakistan and India denying to visit the country.
"Pakistan should play Asia Cup in Dubai, do some good PR there. Then travel to India for World Cup, do some good PR there, meet Indian government officials and initiate a dialogue. For the 2025 Champions Trophy, Pakistan should say that we will get India to Pakistan and India will come. Make good relations. BCCI is a big board, it generates revenue. You should talk about getting Pakistan players to the IPL. No battle is won with fights. Thoda jhuk jaao, koi farak nahi padta hai. But the idea should be to make relations better and more powerful before the Champions Trophy in Pakistan," said Kaneria
