Notably, security agencies have asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to change the date because of increased deployment of security forces across the state in view of the Navratri celebrations.

If reports are said to be true, the rescheduling will cause chaos among fans who have already booked flights, hotels, etc. Prices of hotel rooms in Ahmedabad have risen by more than 20 times on October 15, with costs exceeding Rs 59,000, according to media reports. ITC's Welcomhotel in Ahmedabad was charging an amount of Rs 72,000 on the matchday.

There were no rooms in several other hotels, such as TC Narmada and Courtyard by Marriott in the city on the matchday. So, fans had even started to book hospital rooms for full-body check-ups and overnight stays at hospitals to save money on lodging and get their health checked.

The Narendra Modi Stadium, which has a capacity of nearly 1 lakh has been allotted important games like the opening game between New Zealand and England, as well as matches between India and Pakistan, England and Australia, and the final.

Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Pune are the other venues.

The matter is likely to be discussed on 27 July during a meeting of cricket associations hosting World Cup matches.
