New Delhi, Sept 4: Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has flown back home to India from Sri Lanka and will miss India’s match against Nepal to be played on Monday.
According to reports, Bumrah has informed the team management and the Indian board that he wants to be with his wife, who is expecting their first child. The BCCI has agreed to the speedster’s request and as a result Bumrah flew back to Mumbai this afternoon. He will be joining the team ahead of the Super 4 stage.
It should be noted that Bumrah had returned to international cricket a month ago after recovering from a long injury break. The Indian team will play their Super 4 game after a few days’ break in Lanka and Bumrah has informed BCCI that he will be returning at the earliest.
As a result of the injury, he had also missed out the several bilateral series, IPL 2023 and the World Test Championship final earlier this summer for India and his comeback in time for the World Cup had been under scanner.

"Jasprit is someone who we have missed a lot, over the last two years he has not played too much games,” head coach Rahul Dravid had said ahead of the Asia Cup. “We will ease him into it slowly. It was nice for him to get those overs in the tour of Ireland. We have a whole month to build him up before the World Cup.
On Saturday, even though Bumrah didn’t get to bowl a single delivery as rain led to India’s game against Pakistan being called off after the men in blue posted 266 in the first innings, his impact with the bat in a 14-ball-16 was one of the highlights against a tough Pakistan pace attack.
India face Nepal in their last group stage match and the winner of the game will join Pakistan from Group A to the Super 4.
