Indian shooters won quota spots for the next Paris Olympics by showcasing their skills at the Asian Shooting Championships. The day's biggest winners were Varun Tomar and Esha Singh, who won gold medals and guaranteed India's 14th and 15th Olympic quota spots in the shooting competition.
At the Asian Olympic Qualifier tournament in Jakarta, Varun Tomar defeated fellow countryman Arjun Singh Cheema in a thrilling final to win the gold. In addition to recognising Varun's accomplishment, this win gave India another Olympic quota spot for the games in Paris.

India has now matched its record of 15 quota places earned for the Tokyo Olympics, highlighting the consistent excellence of the country's shooting contingent. It's worth noting that a nation can secure a maximum of 24 quota places for the Olympics, and India is making significant strides toward that goal.

While both the winner and runner-up were eligible to win quota places, India's eligibility was limited to one in this event, considering Sarabjot Singh had already secured a place last year. The rules allow a country to win a maximum of two Olympic quota places in each category.
