Archer Atanu Das stuns two-time gold medallist, PV Sindhu and Men's hockey qualifies for QFs

Tokyo, July 29: In a huge victory for India, a great morning was witnessed here at the Tokyo Olympics. Archer Atanu Das defeated two-time Olympic gold medalist Jinhyek Oh while India's ace shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt to enter the quarterfinals.

 

 

This was followed by the Indian men's hockey team beating defending champions Argentina 3-1 to confirm a spot in the last-eight stage. Besides, boxer Satish Kumar beats Jamaica's Ricardo Brown 4-1 in men's Super Heavy (+91kg) to qualify for quarterfinals.

 

Indian archer Atanu Das shocked South Korea's Jinhyek Oh in a nail-biting finish to make it to the 1/8 Elimination round in the men's individual archery event here on Thursday.

 

 

Sindhu defeated Mia Blichfeldt 21-15, 21-13 in just 41 minutes to cruise into the quarter-finals. She will now face Japan's 4th seed Akane Yamaguchi in the last 8.

 

 

India men's hockey team defeated defending Olympic Champion Argentina by 3-1 in their fourth group A game. With this win, the Indian men's hockey team has qualified for the quarterfinals in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. After this victory, India has now won three matches in their group.

 

 

In a separate development, boxer Satish Kumar beat Jamaica's Ricardo Brown 4-1 in men's Super Heavy (+91kg) to qualify for the quarterfinals.

 

A little later, boxing legend Mary Kom will be in action in her Round-of-16 bout.
