Leeds, Aug 26: The English fans crossing their limits has reached the peak. With an aim to create nuisance after the debacle of India's batting order, the spectators threw a ball at India's new pace sensation Mohammed Siraj on Wednesday.
This was revealed by teammate and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant said in a virtual press conference after the end of the first day's play in the third Test against England. The TV cameras showed an angry Kohli asking Siraj stationed at the boundary to throw the object out.
When asked, Pant did reveal what happened. "I think somebody (from the crowd) threw a ball at Siraj, so he (Kohli) was upset. You can say whatever you want, chant, but don't throw things at fielders. It is not good for cricket, I guess," Pant said after stumps on Wednesday. England were 120 for no loss after bowling India out for 78.
Besides throwing ball at Siraj, the fans also asked the Indian pacer about the score. This, time he was in no mood to take their behaviour silently and had a befitting reply to the English crowd. Siraj while responding to English fans about the score gestured, "1-0." As one may recall, India is currently leading the five-match test series 1-0 and that's what the Indian pacer pointed out. The video of the incident is making rounds on social media.

The 27-year-old Siraj, who played a key role in the team's win the second Test at Lord's, was also targeted earlier this year when Australian crowd at the SCG abused him and called names, which led to eviction of a few spectators, leading to stoppage of play. In fact, it was Siraj, who had back then complained to the umpires that he was being abused by a section of Australian supporters.
It should be noted that even during the Lord's Test, Kohli was angry as a few champagne bottle corks were popped near the boundary gallery and a few fell near the fielder KL Rahul. Although India didn't press a complaint, champagne corks have been a safety hazard at Lord's, which allows patrons to bring their own alcohol in.

Tensions between the two teams have increased after a war of words in the second Test match. The likes of James Anderson, Jos Buttler and a few other players kept sledging the Indian batsmen, including Virat Kohli, but the strategy backfired for Joe Root. The sledging went on high when when fast bowlers Anderson, Mark Wood and Ollie Robinson had a go at Jasprit Bumrah during his record 9th-wicket partnership with Mohammed Shami.
Apart from English fans being in news for their behaviour, Day 1 of the third Test between India and England at Headingley in Leeds turned out to be quite a disappointing outing for the visiting team as they get all out on the score of 78 runs.
