It was yet another biggest upset on Wednesday as Japan defeated the four-time champions 2-1 in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Germany was leading at the end of the first half but Japan scaled up their game in the second half, scoring in the 75th minute through Ritsu Doan and in the 83rd minute through Takuma Asano.

Japanese fans were overjoyed after this historic win but that didn't make them forget what has almost become a post-match ritual for them - collecting the litter and cleaning up the area before leaving.
Japanese fans stayed behind and helped to clean up the Khalifa International Stadium. As soon as the stadium started to empty, Japanese supporters could be seen taking out light blue disposable rubbish bags and getting to work. It is not odd for them as it has been their habit to stay behind irrespective if their team wins or loses.
They had also hit headlines when Ecuador earned a 2-0 victory over Qatar in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2022. When everyone finally left the stadium, the Japanese fans stayed behind and helped clean everything.
Similarly, they repeated this gesture yesterday.

This was not it. The Japanese players also cleaned their dressing rooms before leaving the stadium. FIFA tweeted, "After an historic victory against Germany at the #FIFAWorldCup on Match Day 4, Japan fans cleaned up their rubbish in the stadium, whilst the @jfa_samuraiblue left their changing room at Khalifa International Stadium like this. Spotless. Domo Arigato."
Similar scenes were witnessed four years ago, at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, when, despite a 3-2 Round-of-16 defeat against Belgium, the Japanese fans were seen cleaning up the mess.
