WATCH: Chamika Karunaratne loses four teeth in bizarre injury during Lanka Premier League

Galle, Dec 8: In a very unfortunate incident, Chamika Karunaratne of Kandy Falcons lost almost four teeth while attempting a catch during their Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022 encounter against Galle Gladiators on Wednesday.

 

 

The bizarre injury happened during the fourth over of the Gladiators’ innings when batsman Nuwanidu Fernando attempted to drive Carlos Brathwaite. However, Fernando mistimed the shot as his bat turned while hitting and the ball went up the sky toward the cover point.

 

 

Karunaratne ran backward and grabbed the catch but the ball, unfortunately, went through his hands to hit his teeth knocking some of them in the process. He was soon seen having a bloody mouth and hospitalized immediately for surgery.

 

Karunaratne was rushed to a private hospital in Galle and underwent an immediate surgery. The Team Director of Kandy Falcons said the 26-year-old Chamika is stable and will be available to the coming games.
