It is pertinent to mention that Zainab Abbas was in India to cover the tournament and even co-hosted a few shows for the host broadcaster Star Sports before her contract was terminated and she left for Dubai citing "personal reasons", according to reports.

Remarks against India and Hindu religion

A complaint has been filed against Zainab by an Indian lawyer named Vineet Jindal over her old comments against the country and the Hindu religion which resurfaced on social media a few days back.

The lawyer has alleged that Abbas made offensive remarks against Hindu gods and India almost a decade ago when her X (formerly known as Twitter) account had the username ‘Zainablovesrk’, which has eventually been changed to ‘ZAbbas Official’, her currently active X account
