In what cannot be called a coincidence, Indian pacer and Mumbai Indians player Jasprit Bumrah has shared a cryptic post on social media which has caused an uproar among fans. Moreover, according to fans, he unfollowed his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday.
Speculation has started to spread about his future with the five-time champions after Bumrah posted a message on Instagram. "Silence is sometimes the best answer," he wrote.
This exactly comes after MI announced the return of all-rounder Hardik Pandya after two years. Notably, Pandya was not retained ahead of the mega auction in IPL 2022 and he joined Gujarat Titans. He led GT to their maiden IPL title in his first season as their skipper. They made it to the final in the previous edition but lost to Chennai Super Kings.
However, the 30-year-old returned to Mumbai despite being successful with Titans. Mumbai traded all-rounder Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore to arrange money for Hardik’s comeback. Green joined RCB for Rs 17.5 crore.
Another Instagram story by Bumrah read: 'Sometimes being greedy is good and being loyal isn't.'
However, it's worth noting that with Hardik Pandya's return to the franchise, there's also speculation about him succeeding Rohit Sharma as the skipper. This might have left Bumrah disappointed which might have led him to unfollow MI on social media and post such a message. But, Bumrah continues to follow Pandya and Sharma.
Besides, Suryakumar Yadav has served as Rohit's deputy in the past and captained one match in the 2023 season in his absence. He was also named as India's captain for the ongoing T20 series against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah was another captaincy candidate, as one of the seniors in the MI camp. He has also led India, in a T20 series in Ireland earlier this year. He might also fall down in the pecking order if Hardik does return to MI.
