Team India displayed a clinical performance to clinch a three-match ODI series against South Africa, registering a 78-run win over Proteas in the third match here at Boland Park on Thursday.
Sanju Samson scored his maiden international century, eight years after his debut, while Arshdeep Singh continued his sublime show in the contest to pick a four-wicket haul. With this, Rahul became just the second Indian captain to lead the nation to an ODI series win in South Africa after Kohli.
However, in interesting turn of events, when Maharaj came to crease to bat, the speakers at the Boland Park began played the song ‘Ram Siya Ram’. Rahul, who was the wicketkeeper in the third ODI, quickly pointed out to Maharaj how the song is always played each time he walked into bat.
The Protean bowler also had a quick response to KL’s statement as he nodded his head in affirmation and said yes as Rahul broke into a smile.
The two players will next don their respective Test jersey for the upcoming two-match Test series, starting December 26. While the first of the two-match Test series is set to be played from December 26 to 30 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, the second will be held from January 3 to 7 at the Newlands in Cape Town.
