Mukesh Ambani becomes world's richest sports owner; Know top 10 richest sports team owners-

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has also become the world’s wealthiest sports owner. The owner of Mumbai Indians cricket team surpassed Steve Ballmerm to become the world’s richest sports owner on Forbes billionaire 2023 list.

 

 

The billionaire has also regained his spot as Asia's richest person in the Forbes Billionaire 2023 list.

 

The list, released on April 4, said that the 20 richest sports owners on the planet are collectively worth $509 billion, led by India’s Ambani. "The richest sports owner of all is India’s Mukesh Ambani, owner of the Mumbai Indians cricket team. Ambani has reclaimed the top spot from Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer," the Forbes report said.

 

 

The Indian Premier League (IPL) team was named India’s most valuable cricket franchise, worth $1.3 billion, by Forbes last year.

 

Ambani topped the list with a whoppning net worth of $83.4 billion as of March 10, 2023 - when Forbes locked in the wealth for the 2023 World’s Billionaires list. What’s important to note here is that shares of Ambani’s conglomerate RIL fell 3 per cent over the past year but not as much as shares of Microsoft, where Ballmer was CEO from 2000 to 2014.

 

A decline of 13 per cent in the company’s shares pushed Ballmer’s net worth down by $10.7 billion, to $80.7 billion, making him the planet’s second-wealthiest team owner. Reliance recently purchased a franchise in the inaugural Women’s Premier League and owns cricket teams in South Africa and UAE.
